Perspective
I believe enterprise sellers should understand the business from an executive’s perspective: how it creates value, how operational improvements drive financial performance, and how leadership allocates capital to achieve those results.
My approach to enterprise sales starts with the company’s value objective and works backward to the financial results and operating improvements needed to achieve it. I then identify where technology can enable those improvements and develop a value hypothesis that estimates their financial impact.
Building a business of my own reinforced this perspective. Every investment competes for limited capital, time, and attention. Our role as sellers is to help executives identify worthwhile improvements, evaluate the trade-offs, and commit resources with a clear understanding of the expected financial return.
